The story revolves around a village Headman who has evil site on one of his workers named Rupa. Rupa is a happily married young woman and is a staunch devotee of deity Maa Meladi. When she learns about the vile intentions of her employee, the village Headman, she warns him to leave her alone else he would face the fury of her deity. However, the Headman, not taking Rupa's warning seriously, proceeds to harass Rupa by abducting her husband and deploys all sorts of malicious plans to win her. On witnessing all this Rupa prays for help to Maa Meladi and her deity punishes the Headman for each of his bad deeds and frees Rupa's husband. It's a modern day Ramayan to send a message to all the modern day "Ravan".

Composed of two short films. The first one "Spring" (26 minutes) is about a young couple falling in love. Almost dialogue free and shot in an experimental style. The second film "Fall" (46 minutes) is a more traditional comedic love story between a lonely old Jewish-German lady and a lonely old Iraqi Falafel seller.

Chanderbabu (Nazir Hussain), a retired postmaster, lives in the village with his wife and two sons, Rajan (Paul Mahendra) and Bhanu (Bharat Bhushan). He continues to live there and work for the Zamindar, while his children are getting their education. Rajan is studying for his law exam. He is married to a girl (Padma) from a wealthy family whose haughty ways alarm and frightens him. Bhanu, the younger brother is fun-loving but studious. He gets influenced by the Nationalist Movement in the campus and stops his education in the last year of college. His father is disappointed and feels that Rajan is the one they can depend upon in their old age. Bhanu meets Meena (Shyama), and the two fall in love. Meera's father, Ramnarayan, is the school Principal and is impressed by Bhanu. He decides to get Meera married to Bhanu.

A multi-millionaire, Ram Khanna, is advised by a fake astrologer that he will meet and marry a woman whose name will start with "M". Ram does meet Mamta, and they both fall in love. Ram marries her, despite the fact that she is the daughter of a prostitute, Heerabai, and brings her home with her. Mamta gets a chilling welcome from Ram brother's, Murli Manohar, and his wife, Maya. Mamta decides to assert herself and takes over the household matters, forcing Murli and Maya to leave the house. Soon Mamta and Ram give birth to a baby boy. One day Ram asks Mamta to take care of a suitcase full of cash, as he has to go out of town. Mamta is lured out of the house along with the suitcase, and is brutally killed by Gulu Goli, a hired hit-man, who buries her in a secluded spot. Though physically dead and buried, Mamta's spirit is still alive and active, though she cannot be heard, nor seen by anyone. She decides to return home and expose Murli and Maya. After young Raj, who lives with his widowed mom, Rama, writes to jailed inmate St. Michael about how to escape from a maximum security prison, Michaels escapes, and decides to make Raj his disciple. Years later, Raj and Michael are still together and continue to pull a number of stunts to make fast money and better their lives. Raj meets with wealthy Soniya and both fall in love with each other. It is then Rama tells Raj that his dad's business partner, Dilip, had tricked his dad into signing away his entire estate, killed him, and left them penniless. Raj along with Michaels decides to teach Dilip a lesson. He gets to meet Dilip, who now runs a gambling den and casino, befriends him, and tricks him into losing almost all his wealth. An enraged Dilip hires several men to find Raj and bring him back to alive, so that he get his money back. Raj is all set to defend himself and kill Dilip, until he finds out that Dilip is none other than Soniya's dad.
